I’ve had the privilege to work at some of the best wedding venues in the UK (and further afield), but to also work with some of the most talented wedding suppliers.
TOP TIPS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY
A list of my recommended wedding suppliers has always been part of my Top Tips for your Wedding Day guide given to my couples at the start of their journey with me, but I’ve always wanted to go one step further.
My current list has a paragraph or two of my own musings, but I wanted to give my clients a real in-depth understanding of why I felt those suppliers might be the perfect match for them and also, to inspire those couples, even if they haven’t booked me, to seek out the best they can, to support them and make their wedding day the day of their dreams. After all the right wedding suppliers can quite frankly make or break a big day, and the feedback from every couple whose chosen wisely and invested, is that its so easy to underestimate the difference it can make.
EXCEPTIONAL WEDDING VENUES
For many years now, I’ve been thinking of how I can give those exceptional wedding suppliers I love and respect a forum to share who they are, what they do and why they do it, who better to explain who they really are and what they can really do for couples than the designers, artistes, creators and makers themselves.
I was really conscious that I didn’t want my clients to feel like it was one big sales pitch, that I needed it to be of interest and to give them added value. But where to find the time in-between being a girl boss, running a business wedding photography business and trying to find a sense of work / life balance?! Step in the unsung hero of the hour…Sarah (previous bride, Mum to the gorgeous Elsie and now good friend).
THE BEST WEDDING SUPPLIERS I KNOW
After many an evening chatting wedding photography, sharing my dreams for ‘the bigger picture’ and musing through the plans in my head with her, it was so clear that she thought like me and, having recently got married, had all the background knowledge. The idea I’d initially had started to take shape and the Wedding Supplier Spotlight was developed and I opened the doors for applications from the best wedding suppliers I knew.
Initially thinking I’d focus on one wedding venue or wedding supplier per month, I contacted my nearest and dearest friends and allies in the industry. I was a little worried that being so close to the busy Christmas period it might put people off applying, but I needn’t have worried! It appears that so many wedding suppliers and wedding venues saw this as an incredibly positive thing to do and with that, my Inbox started filing up.
The applications came flooding in, those I really wanted to, and I knew saw the value in it, filled out their forms eagerly and since our initial thoughts, Sarah and I have had to scrap all the plans we put together over many a coffee. I’ve had to temporarily close the books, re-think the process as instead of one a month, some months I have up to 6 suppliers to feature!
TOP TIPS FOR WEDDING PLANNING
So, starting in February, each month of 2020 I’ll be featuring one, or more(!) of my favourite wedding venues or wedding suppliers, showcasing the faces behind the magic, sharing their top tips for wedding planning, their thoughts and experience in the wedding industry and getting them to answer a few myth busters. I’ll be counting down and highlighting each wedding venue or wedding supplier as the time arises and may even be able to persuade a few of them to get on camera to tell you, in person, a little more about themselves.

They’ll be giving you some top tips and inspiration for your proposal and sharing some of their favourite engagement stories.

QUESTIONS FOR YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
But because I’m a firm believer that you can’t ask someone else to do something you’re not prepared to do yourself, Sarah came up with a set of questions for your wedding photographer. (Because I’m never still and always travelling this was done at 35,000ft, on my way to photograph Elsie’s Christening, with a Gin & Tonic in my hand, where Sarah had my undivided attention... well except when Elsie was being cute! One day I might share snippets of the recording…it’s quite a listen!).
